Daniel Abelson
Dr. Dan Abelson earned a BA in History from the University of Michigan and BS in Renewable Energy Engineering from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Portland, Oregon. Following his engineering degree, he worked as a project manager to develop Wind Farms in Oregon, Washington, and Montana.
Despite his passion for sustainability, Dr. Abelson was inspired by his parents and grandfather to change career and pursue dentistry. Dr. Abelson admired their work ethic, dedication, and care for their patients. With a career in dentistry, Dr. Abelson happily combines his interests in engineering, art, and medicine with his passion for caring for others.
Dr. Abelson studied at Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine, where the medically integrated curriculum trains dentists to treat patients with complex medical conditions. While at Columbia, Dr. Abelson pursued extra-curricular studies and volunteering with the renowned Implant Department.
Dr. Abelson’s interest in treating patients with complex medical and dental cases led him to pursue residency training at the Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx, NY. Training at Montefiore also enabled Dr. Abelson to provide emergency dental care for patients with oral-facial trauma.
Dr. Abelson is proud and humbled to be a third-generation dentist. Working with multi-generations of families, Dr. Abelson is focused on providing preventative and conservative care. In this regard, he is also passionate about patient-centered care and shared-decision making, so that patients’ goals and values are always put first.
With a love of learning and a never-ending motivation to improve results, Dr. Abelson actively continues his education with courses in esthetics, digital dentistry, restorative and surgical implant dentistry, and orofacial pain.
He accepts PPO plans for most major insurance companies, and is a preferred dental provider for Principal, Guardian, and Metlife.
Dr. Abelson participates with Everyone for Veterans, which connects veterans with dentists for comprehensive care. This is a wonderful organization, as many veterans do not qualify for dental care within the Veterans Affairs.
