David Abelson, DDS

Dr. David Abelson was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Brooklyn College for his undergraduate degree in Chemistry, and then the University of Michigan School of Dentistry where he received his DDS degree in 1971. Upon graduation, Dr. Abelson joined his father, Jacob's dental practice and the faculty of Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in the division of preventive Dentistry. Dr. Abelson worked for 20 years at Columbia, teaching and conducting clinical research, while simultaneously practicing general dentistry part-time. In 1990, Dr. Abelson transitioned to the full time practice of general dentistry. After 49 years of practice, Dr. Abelson retired in 2020. For those years Dr. Abelson strived to provide the best dentistry possible to two and sometimes three generations of families he treated. It is those relationships which he considers the most special characteristic of his practice. Dr. Abelson retired confident that the people who he treated would receive the same level of care from the dentists who assumed his practice, his wife, Dr. Michelle Mirsky, and his son, Dr. Daniel Abelson.
